Kelvin
Kelvin denoted by the symbol K, is the base unit of temperature measurement. The lowest possible temperature is zero in the kelvin scale which is called as Absolute Zero (-273.15° on the celsius temperature scale and -459.67° on the Fahrenheit temperature scale). Based on the kelvin scale, the water freezes at 273.16K and boils at 373.16K. The difference between the freezing and boiling points of water is 100 degrees in both the kelvin and celsius scales. Thus the kelvin degree has the same magnitude as the celsius degree.
Celsius
Celsius is a unit of temperature, also called as centigrade. The celsius scale based on 0° for the freezing point of water and 100° for the boiling point of water. The celsius scale is also known as the Centigrade scale because of the 100 degree interval between the defined points. The degree celsius is defined by the symbol °C.
How to convert the temperature kelvin to celsius
The temperature in degree celsius is calculated by subtracting the value 273.15 from the temperature in kelvin.
°C = K – 273.15
Example 1:
Convert 15 K to celsius
°C = 15 K – 273.15 = -258.15 °C
Example 2:
Convert 50 K to celsius
°C = 50 K – 273.15 = -223.15 °C
